Dakota County Parks lights hundreds of lanterns along a paved route through Thompson County Park and the adjoining greenway in West St. Paul for ten evenings around Thanksgiving. Follow the "Lanterns this way" signs for an easy after-dark walk that works with strollers and young children, then warm up at the bonfire from 5 to 8 p.m. The trail is paved and plowed but can be slippery, so traction on shoes is recommended. Free admission and parking, no ticket or registration needed, all ages welcome; lanterns are lit from about 4 p.m. until the park closes at 10 p.m.
