At Elmwood Park Zoo's Frank & Paige Engro Veterinary Health Center, visitors can watch live medical exams and procedures and ask the veterinary team questions while they work. The public session in this window is on Friday, October 23 at 10 am, when the patient is Lexi, a saki monkey. The program shows children how zoo vets care for animals and the role modern veterinary medicine plays in animal welfare, conservation and long-term care. It is free with paid zoo admission. Note that the zoo's later sessions on November 4 and December 2, which start at 11 am, are for members only.
