Ranger Kevin hosts a family-friendly evening of autumn stargazing at McDowell Mountain Regional Park, on the dark-sky edge of Fountain Hills. Clear skies permitting, the group looks through a portable telescope at a selection of objects that may include planets, galaxies, nebulae and star clusters, picks out major constellations with a laser pointer and hears the stories connected to them. Children are encouraged to bring their sky questions. Bring your own chairs if you want to sit and a jacket for the cooler evening; water and restrooms are nearby. No pets. The program is limited to 20 people: register by calling the McDowell Mountain Nature Center with your name, phone and group size. Registration closes November 3.
