At Fairview-Columbia Library on Sunday, November 8, Habiba, a native of Ghana, leads a 45-minute interactive lesson in West African culture through song and dance. Wearing authentic West African costume, she gets the whole audience involved in simple dance steps, call and response, greetings and phrases, and rhythm drumming, so children learn by moving and singing along rather than just watching. The program runs from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m. and is listed for kids and families. Seating is first come, first served, and the library's calendar shows no registration step. The library is at 1520 NE Village Street in Fairview.
