Center REP's holiday production of A Christmas Carol returns to the Lesher Center for the Arts in downtown Walnut Creek for a two-week run before Christmas. This adaptation by Harrison David Rivers (in collaboration with Sally Lobel, directed by Jared Mezzocchi) puts young Tim Cratchit at the center of the story: Tim makes a wish on a candle and summons the ghostly visitors who take Ebenezer Scrooge on his journey of awakening. The staging mixes digital design with live stage effects and is produced in partnership with AXIS Dance Company, an ensemble of disabled, non-disabled, d/Deaf and neurodiverse performers. The show runs about two hours including one 15-minute intermission. Center REP's content advisory notes ghost and spirit scenes with loud sounds, fog and strobe effects alongside song, dance and holiday cheer, and recommends the production for ages 6 and up — a good fit for school-age children and families who want a full-length holiday play rather than a short children's show. Tickets are sold through the Lesher Center ticket office.
