Brazen Racing brings its Quarry Turkey race to Quarry Lakes Regional Recreation Area in Fremont on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The day offers a half marathon, a 10K and a 5K, plus the Little Turkeys Race for children: a dash of about 100 yards that is free to all children who come with race participants. All races start and finish inside the Quarry Lakes Recreational Area. The half marathon and 10K have out-and-back sections on the Alameda Creek Trail, and the courses are mostly dirt fire trails with a small stretch of pavement at the start and finish and almost no hills. Start times are 7:00 AM for Half Hikers, 7:40 AM for the Little Turkeys Race, 8:00 AM for the half marathon, 8:20 AM for the 10K and 8:40 AM for the 5K. Walkers are welcome, and Thanksgiving-themed costumes for children and adults are highly encouraged. The race supports the Alameda County Community Food Bank and asks every little turkey to bring at least one canned good on race morning; donation bins are on site.
