Organizer
San Anselmo Public Library with Marin Stargazers

The San Anselmo Public Library and the Marin Stargazers astronomy club host an evening of stargazing in Memorial Park. Participants meet in the park's Large Picnic Group Area, where club telescopes are pointed at the moon, stars and planets, and local astronomer Dan Smiley leads a sky tour of the constellations. The library lists the program for all ages, so it works as a first look through a telescope for school-age children as well as for older kids already curious about astronomy; younger children can join with a grown-up. The program runs for an hour and a half starting at 5:00 PM, shortly after a mid-November sunset, which keeps it early enough for a school night. The organizers ask people to dress warmly, and registration through the library's LibCal page is appreciated but not described as required.
