A free, family-friendly holiday tradition at West Seattle's Hiawatha Community Center: food, music and gingerbread building for the whole family on the Friday evening before winter break. Registration is through Seattle Parks' catalog and plenty of spots were open (142 on Oct 21). It runs from 5 to 7 pm on Friday, December 18, at Hiawatha Community Center on California Ave SW. It is open to all ages, so it suits families with young children as well as older kids.
