The Missouri Department of Conservation leads a guided 1.5-mile walk through Bellerive and Sister Marie Charles parks on the bluffs above the Mississippi River on Friday, Oct. 23, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Walkers listen and look for birds — both seasonal visitors and year-round residents — and learn about the prairie restoration that MDC and the City of St. Louis have under way in the parks. It is part of MDC's "A Walk in the Park" series, which is designed for all ages and abilities and features a different city park each time, covering plants, wildlife and local history. The program is open to all ages; registration is required and was limited to 20 people (8 seats left when checked). Families with homeschoolers or kids off school that Friday will find it an easy-paced nature outing.
