- Alton Halloween Parade
Alton, which bills itself as one of the most haunted small towns in America, holds one of the oldest Halloween parades in the United States. The 2026 parade steps off downtown on Saturday, Oct. 31, at 7 p.m., with more than 40 entries including floats, bands and costumed marchers. The route starts at Washington Avenue and Broadway, follows Broadway to Piasa Street, then turns right on Piasa to 9th Street. Watching is free. Community trick-or-treating in Alton takes place the night before, Friday, Oct. 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. For details call (618) 972-8329 or email altonhalloweenparade@gmail.com.
