On Halloween itself, Saturday, Oct. 31, Kingshighway Library on South Vandeventer Avenue hands out treats to children who stop by in costume. The window is long — 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. — so it works as a quick daytime stop before neighborhood trick-or-treating. The library says anyone may participate and suggests it for ages 17 and under. There is nothing to register for; just come dressed up and pick up a treat at the branch.
