Hands-On History is a drop-off craft-history class at Montgomery Parks' Agricultural History Farm Park in Derwood for ages 10 to 14, where kids work with real tools and materials to learn how everyday things were made before modern technology. Two holiday-season sessions run from 1 to 3 p.m. On Sunday, November 8, Holiday Card Calligraphy & Stamp Making covers the history of letter writing, calligraphy and the printing press; students work together to build a printing press and print their own cards. On Sunday, November 22, Wreath Making looks at how wreaths and evergreens were used across history and cultures, and each student designs a wreath from traditional and natural materials to take home. The November 8 class page lists a $15 fee and ages 10 to 14; each class is booked separately. Parents are welcome to stay at the Farm Park during class; bring water and dress for messy work.
