About this adventure

Located on the tranquil North Shore of Big Bear Lake, the Big Bear Discovery Center serves as the primary educational gateway for the San Bernardino National Forest. Behind the center lies the 0.5-mile Woodland Interpretive Trail, an easy, flat, paved nature loop with 16 numbered stations teaching children about alpine flora, wildlife adaptations, and mountain geology. Winter brings migrating bald eagles to the Big Bear Valley, and Forest Service naturalists lead free weekend eagle identification walks and junior ranger programs. The trail is fully stroller accessible, and after the walk, families can warm up inside the Discovery Center to explore interactive exhibits, animal touch tables, and nature craft stations.
