About this adventure

Spanning 248 acres in Riverside's Arlington Heights neighborhood, California Citrus State Historic Park celebrates the inland citrus empire that fueled Southern California's rapid 19th-century growth. Winter (December through February) is peak harvest season for sweet Washington Navel oranges, filling the air with sweet citrus blossom fragrance as trees become laden with bright golden fruit. Families can stroll miles of paved, gently rolling trails through working orange, grapefruit, and lemon groves that are completely stroller-friendly. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoons, state park rangers lead free guided walking tours and historic varietal tastings where children can sample multiple freshly picked citrus varieties right in the groves.
