Columbus Metropolitan Library opens the holiday season at Main Library with a free two-hour family evening built around the launch of the Huntington Holiday Train. The schedule starts with a CoMo Dance Rockettes performance in the atrium at 6 p.m., followed by the train launch at 6:15 p.m. Live reindeer stand outside on Kaufman Plaza, the café area serves free hot chocolate and cookies, and photos with a special guest begin in the Reading Room at 6:30 p.m. Children can write a letter to Santa, pick up coloring and activity sheets, pose at a selfie station and see BalletMet's life-size Nutcracker, while the Columbus Rings hand bell choir plays. A quiet space is set aside in the Teen Area for anyone who needs a break. Everything is free, including parking in the Main Library garage and nearby lots. No registration is listed; families can drop in any time between 6 and 8 p.m.
