Denver Botanic Gardens' Family Make and Take programs are self-paced craft sessions where children and their grown-ups build a nature project together. For Halloween, families plant and decorate a miniature indoor 'ghostly garden' with giggling ghosts, witches, bats or spiders, then head out into the York Street gardens with a self-guided scavenger hunt. Most families spend 30 to 90 minutes between decorating and exploring. Sessions run Saturday, October 24 (10–11:30 am), Sunday, October 25 (10–11:30 am or 1:30–3 pm) and Saturday, October 31 (10–11:30 am). The fee is per project, not per person: $16 for non-members or $14 for members, and each project includes a container, a plant and a table of natural and craft materials, so buy one project for each garden your group will make. Materials are chosen for families with children ages 5 and up. Register in advance; cancellations within a week of the class are not refunded.
