This guided family workshop at Denver Botanic Gardens follows chocolate from bean to bar. Children and their grown-ups learn how cacao beans grow and how they are transformed into chocolate, then make an assortment of chocolate treats to take home. Unlike the self-paced Make and Take programs, family workshops are hands-on classroom sessions led by Gardens educators that mix plant science with a project. The workshop runs 10:00 to 11:30 am on Sunday, November 29 and again on Sunday, December 6 at the York Street location, so it fits nicely into Thanksgiving weekend or early holiday baking season. Everyone who attends must register, including adults, because classroom space and materials are limited and non-participating adults or siblings cannot be accommodated. The fee is $19 per person for non-members and $17 for members. The format and materials are designed for families with children aged 7 and up.
