Forager and chemist Dr. Mark 'Merriwether' Vorderbruggen, author of a foraging guide and the Foraging Texas website, leads a four-hour hands-on cooking class at the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center on Sunday, November 22, 2026, from 1 to 5 p.m. Participants gather an assortment of wild greens on the grounds, then infuse them into homemade pasta using his family recipe; some is cooked and eaten in class and the rest goes home with you. The class is for ages 16 and up, with minors accompanied by an adult, so it suits older teens with a parent who are curious about edible plants and cooking. The fee is $130 for members and $150 for nonmembers per person; register online and wear clothes that can get messy.
