Late fall is prime tree-planting season in Houston, and on Saturday, November 14, 2026 (10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.) the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center runs a hands-on workshop led by certified arborist Rafael Renteria. Participants learn how to choose the right location, prepare the site, dig the right hole and care for a tree after planting, and, weather permitting, plant a tree on the Arboretum grounds. It is open to ages 12 and up with minors accompanied by an adult, a practical outdoor project for teens interested in nature or service hours. The fee is $22 for members and $37 for nonmembers per person; register online, dress for the weather and wear walking shoes.
