Cottonwood Tales is the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens' first-Saturday story time for young children, led by O.P. the Bookworm and Miss Laurel. Families gather at 10 a.m. at the Education Center for interactive, nature-themed stories, fingerplays and musical activities that quietly build early literacy and math skills. It is held outdoors when the forecast high is at least 70 degrees and dry, otherwise inside the Education Center. Registration is required and a caregiver must stay; the fee is per child participant, while caregivers and siblings pay only Arboretum admission. Dates not shown on the ticket calendar are sold out.
