Walk and Read at Strang Park is a year-round story walk behind the Central Resource Library in Overland Park, run by Johnson County Library with the Johnson County Department of Health and Environment and the City of Overland Park. Two picture books are posted page by page along a paved path: one leads from the library to the playground and the other leads back. Families read as they walk, then stop to play. The books change each month: November features Ruby, Head High by Irene Cohen-Janca and There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Leaves! by Lucille Colandro, and December includes Just One More Sleep by Jamie Lee Curtis. The paved route works for strollers, and there is no cost or registration. Dates can shift because of weather.
