A Missouri Master Naturalist and Burroughs Audubon member guides this leisurely walk around the Discovery Center grounds, looking for birds that use its native gardens, trees and landscaped areas as an urban oasis. The walk covers bird identification using both old-school methods and current apps, along with bird life history and citizen science opportunities. It is aimed at beginners but birders of all skill levels are welcome. The group meets in the lobby; the route is on sidewalks and mixed natural surfaces over flat terrain. Dress for the weather and bring binoculars if you have them — a limited number are available to borrow. Walks run 10:30 a.m. to noon on Friday, November 6 and Friday, December 4. Ages 8 and up; registration required for each date (December registration opens October 23).
