On the first Tuesday of each month the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens runs Discovery Day, a free make-and-take nature craft for young children. Crafting supplies are included and the projects go to the first 100 participants, first come, first served, between 9 a.m. and noon. The first Tuesday is also the Arboretum's Free Admission Day, so entry to the gardens and the craft are both free. The November project is leaf suncatchers and December's is bean mosaic art. Combine the craft with a stroll on the garden trails; dress for the weather.
