The Las Vegas Natural History Museum's annual Halloween day, held on Nevada Day (Friday, October 30) from 10 am to 3 pm. Dinoween: Monsters & Mischief mixes Victorian curiosities, the real-life animals behind monsters and myths, creepy creatures and prehistoric beasts with hands-on science activities and Halloween fun throughout the museum's galleries, which include animated dinosaurs, a shark tank and an Egyptian tomb. It is a daytime, family-oriented alternative to evening trick-or-treating and works well for preschoolers through tweens. The event is included with museum admission or membership, and children aged 0-11 who come in costume get in free. Advance tickets are encouraged but not required, and an RSVP option is on the event page. Plan for a busy day, as several hundred guests had already RSVP'd by mid-October.
