Rocks and minerals are the theme of Ridley Creek State Park's trailside exhibit on Sunday, November 1, open from 10 am to 2 pm at the Multi-Use Trail outdoor classroom by the stone bridge below the mansion. The park naturalist explains the differences between sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rocks and shows how minerals are identified by crystal shape, color, luster, cleavage, hardness, magnetism and fluorescence, with a wide range of specimens to examine. The listing notes that grade-school students can get a head start on geology topics in their science standards. Free, drop-in, no registration needed.
