A Saturday-morning merit badge workshop at the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum, open to any youth in grades 1–5, not only registered Scouts. Participants study real-life engineers, draw custom blueprints and work through the engineering design process, then explore potential and kinetic energy by building, testing and racing a balloon-powered vehicle on a racetrack. The session covers the requirements for the Cub Scout Arrow of Light Engineering elective and the Girl Scout Brownie Race Car and Junior Balloon Car mechanical engineering badges. It runs 9 am to noon; the fee is $25 per scout and $15 per chaperone, booked online in advance.
