Gregory Heights Library hosts Cooking History: Black Eyed Peas, presented by Stones, Bones and Black-Eyed Peas, on Tuesday, November 17, from 5 to 7 p.m. Chef Michelle Guinn, owner of Finer Things Events and Catering, and her daughter Sable Askew look at the historical and cultural significance of black-eyed peas with a cooking demonstration of traditional foods and recipes cooked by African Americans from the time of slavery, and then explore their many modern interpretations. The program is listed for kids and families, teens and adults, so parents and children can come together. Seats go to whoever arrives first; there is nothing to book ahead on the library's calendar.
