Daniel and Erika of Corazón Arts teach a bilingual (Spanish and English) workshop at Albina Library on Saturday, January 16, from 1 to 3 p.m., in which participants paint their own handmade alebrije, a Mexican folk-art figure. Along the way they learn the background and history of Mexican arts and their influence on Latino culture, and the program celebrates art as a therapeutic practice. Space is limited to 12 and registration is required for every person in a group who wants to paint an alebrije; registration opens December 19. The listing is open to kids and families, tweens, teens and adults, which makes it a two-hour family art project on Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend.
