San Bruno's annual Monster Mash Bash fills the San Bruno Recreation & Aquatic Center with Halloween fun on the Friday evening before Halloween, from 6 to 9 pm. The city describes it as a spooktacular community celebration open to all ages, so it is a good option for families who want an indoor costume party rather than trick-or-treating in the dark. Registration details are posted on the city's Monster Mash page (sanbruno.ca.gov/monstermash), which opened for sign-ups on September 1; check there for activities, any fees and whether advance registration is needed.
