San Francisco's 24th annual Thanksgiving Day run and walk starts from the Polo Field in Golden Gate Park and raises money for the Lowell High School track and cross-country teams, as it has since 2004. Children 10 and under can run the Kids Gobbler Chase, a 100-meter 'Beat the Turkey' dash that goes off first at 8:00 AM. At 8:40 AM the adults set off on the Turkey Trail Trot (a 5-mile run) and the non-competitive Pilgrim Promenade (a 3-mile walk), so families can have kids race and then walk the promenade together before the holiday meal. Adult entry is $57 plus Active's processing fee; the Gobbler Chase is free, but only for children of registered adults. Registration is through the race's Active.com page.
