Young paleontologists ages 5 to 8 can join a mini archaeological dig with Hazelwood Parks and Recreation on Friday, Oct. 23, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Kids dig around White Birch Park, next to the Hazelwood Community Center, to see what turns up — dinosaur bones or buried treasure. Games, crafts and snacks are part of the morning, and getting dirty is expected, so dress children in clothes and shoes that can handle it. A limited number of digging tools are provided; families are welcome to bring their own.
