During Thanksgiving week, Divoll Library hosts a classic chemistry demonstration for kids: elephant toothpaste. On Tuesday, Nov. 24, from 4 to 5 p.m., children ages 5 to 10 learn what a chemical reaction is while watching a foamy mixture heat up, bubble and overflow its container. It is a quick, memorable introduction to chemistry, and a way to fill an afternoon of the short school week. The lab takes place in a shared room at the North Grand Boulevard branch; the library notes possible smells and bright lights with STEM programs.
