A hands-on Saturday-morning class for a child aged 7 to 11 and a parent at Kitchen Conservatory on Nov. 7, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Instructor Melissa Clendenin shows pairs how to make a traditional chewy pretzel dough, then twist and shape it several ways: classic kosher-salted soft pretzels with a homemade cheese dip, garlic-parmesan pretzel knots with Alfredo sauce, pretzel-wrapped hot dogs, and cinnamon-sugar pretzels with cream cheese dip. It is a good first cooking class for kids who like working with their hands, since most of the session is kneading and shaping. The fee is $130 for the parent-and-child pair; book online.
