The St. Louis Aquarium at Union Station is under "pirate command" for Halloween through Nov. 2. Families can explore pirate scenes throughout the building — the Captain's Chair, a walk-through ship, sunken treasure and a massive megalodon jaw — and hunt for one-of-a-kind carved pumpkins hidden among the exhibits. The highlight is underwater pumpkin carving in Shark Canyon every Saturday and Sunday at 1:15 p.m. through Nov. 1: divers carve pumpkins beneath the surface while staff talk about the animals in the habitat, and the audience votes for a winner of the Golden Gourd. Kids can take home pirate puzzles, challenges and a pumpkin-carving stencil. All of it is included with general admission or an annual pass; timed tickets are sold online.
