The sixth annual Winterfest 5K kicks off the holiday season on Saturday, Nov. 21, at 7:30 a.m., starting from Kiener Plaza and running past the Old Courthouse and through the grounds of Gateway Arch National Park — the only official race through the park. All ages and experience levels are welcome, strollers are allowed on the 5K route, and a 1-mile Fun Run/Walk that loops around the Gateway Arch suits younger kids and families who want a shorter outing. Participants receive a commemorative medal and T-shirt. Dogs may not take part. Registration is through RunSignup; the event page does not list the fee, but Gateway Arch Park Foundation members save $10. After the race, Winterfest opens in Kiener Plaza with skating and s'mores.
