Challenge Island brings a screen-free STEAM workshop to the Fendig Library in South Tampa. Children learn about the great pyramids of Giza and how they were built, discover some secrets of mummies, and practice writing their names in hieroglyphics. Then they use a treasure chest of low-tech supplies, teamwork and problem-solving to build their own mummy and a square-bottomed pyramid. Recommended for ages 6-12; the 90-minute program is funded by the Friends of the Charles J. Fendig Library. Registration is open, with room for 40 children.
