The National Museum of Asian Art invites families to celebrate Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, on Friday evening, November 6, 2026, from 5 to 7 pm. Children make crafts, listen to stories, take part in a scavenger hunt through the galleries, and learn how museum conservators protect light-sensitive art — a neat tie-in to a festival about light. Activities are in the Courtyard and Galleries 1, 2 and 12 of the West Building (Freer Gallery). It is free, with no registration or tickets; walk up. The family program runs alongside the museum's Asia After Dark Diwali festival the same evening.
