About this adventure
Howard County's Office of Human Rights & Equity hosts a Kwanzaa Market Day at the Harriet Tubman Cultural Center in Columbia, a historic site that commemorates the legacy of Harriet Tubman High School and the impact of African Americans in Howard County. The market is built around the Kwanzaa principle of Ujamaa (cooperative economics): visitors can do holiday shopping with local Black-owned businesses selling handcrafted art, jewelry, clothing, sweet treats, body and hair care, home decor and accessories. The county says the vendors have shown a commitment to reinvesting profits, resources or time back into the community. The county page links an Eventbrite registration for visitors and a separate application form for vendors.
