Northbrook Theatre Youth Company, the park district's recreational theatre program for young actors, stages Beetlejuice JR. at the Northbrook Community Center this Halloween week. The youth-edition musical follows Lydia Deetz, a gothic teenager who moves into a house haunted by a kind recently deceased couple and the chaotic demon Beetlejuice; the company describes its shows as age-appropriate musicals suitable for family viewing. Remaining performances are Tuesday to Thursday, October 20–22 at 7 pm, Saturday, October 24 at 10 am and 1 pm, and Sunday, October 25 at 10 am. Tickets are $15 and are sold through the theatre's online ticket page. A spooky-silly pick for school-age kids who like ghost stories and musicals.
