A gentler version of Woodridge's Haunted Forest for younger children runs Saturday, October 24 from 1 to 3 pm. The trail through Hawthorne Hill Woods is set up as themed scenes with friendly forest creatures and colorful characters instead of scares, and families vote for their favorite scene at the end. The park district recommends this session for children 9 and under and anyone who prefers a less scary experience. Tickets are $5 per person, sold only on the day inside the Fred C. Hohnke Community Center, with a hayride out to the woods; there is no presale, and ticket sales end at 3 pm. Cash, Visa, MasterCard and Discover are accepted.
