For two nights the Woodridge Park District turns Hawthorne Hill Woods into a haunted trail of seven scary scenes, with creatures lurking around dark corners. Walks run Friday, October 23 and Saturday, October 24 from 6:30 to 9:30 pm. Tickets are sold only on the day, inside the Fred C. Hohnke Community Center, and a hayride takes guests out to the woods; there is no presale or pre-registration and evening ticket sales end at 9:30 pm (cash, Visa, MasterCard and Discover). Visitors vote for their favorite scene by QR code at the end. The evening walks are meant to be scary; the park district suggests its Saturday afternoon session for children 9 and under. Park at the community center, on Carleton Drive or at Village Hall on Plaza Drive.
