Crabtree Nature Center in Barrington Hills hides pumpkins along its trail for a self-guided scavenger hunt on Sunday, October 25, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Families arrive any time in that window, walk the trail and look for the hidden pumpkins at their own pace. Costumes are encouraged and the activity is free. It works well for toddlers through grade-schoolers; the nature center's indoor exhibits and resident animals make a good warm-up stop before or after the hunt.
