Children who have never taken skating lessons can try the ice for free at the Northbrook Sports Center on Saturday, November 14. Professional park district staff teach basic skating skills in short sessions and help families judge whether a child is ready for a class; children are grouped by age. It is open to ages 3 and older, and three-year-olds must be potty trained. Two half-hour sessions are offered, 1:15–1:45 pm and 2:15–2:45 pm, and registration is required even though there is no fee. Dress children in warm layers and gloves.
