About this adventure
A free, bilingual pilot program for teens ages 13 to 18 that links geology and ceramics, created by Four Mile Historic Park and the Mizel Arts and Culture Center at the JCC with an SCFD Collaborative grant. Participants take a guided hike at Four Mile focused on the geology and history of the area and collect soil observations, then turn them into ceramic works inspired by traditional Oaxacan barro negro techniques in a workshop at the MACC nearby. A bilingual educator leads in English and Spanish, lunch is provided, and finished pieces will be shown in exhibitions at both sites. It focuses on Latin communities and anyone interested in Latin culture.
