Cheddar the Village Mouse and Mrs. Laura host a monthly preschool story time at the Troy Historic Village, with stories, games, songs, crafts and snacks built around a seasonal theme. November's session, 'Hey, Gobble Gobble,' reads The Very Stuffed Turkey by Katherine Kenah; children make a paper plate craft, sing a song about colors and a turkey, try fall sewing cards, play with farm animals and enjoy free play with playdough. It is for ages 2 to 5 with an accompanying adult and starts promptly at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, in the Niles-Barnard House (park at the spots marked with orange cones). Fees: non-members $7 per child and $5 per adult; Troy Historical Society members $5 per child and $3 per adult. Advance sign-up is helpful but not required; walk-ins pay at the Main Building and may find the session full, so call ahead. Afterward, families can look for Mozzarella the mouse in the Village and pick up a scavenger hunt.
