Sheldon Lake State Park & Environmental Learning Center in northeast Houston holds a free, nature-themed Halloween in the Park on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 5 to 9 p.m. Families make festive crafts, meet community exhibitors, climb the 82-foot John Jacob Observation Tower to look for bats at dusk, and walk the Spooky Trail if they dare. Paths are level paved, crushed granite and boardwalk, so strollers can manage most of the route, though the tower elevator is closed and only stairs are open. Parking is offsite in the student lot behind C.E. King High School off Garrett and Innovation Road, with free shuttles to the park. Restrooms and portable toilets are available.
