- Texas Parks and Wildlife — Galveston Island State Park
On Saturday, December 12, 2026, from 6 to 7 p.m., Galveston Island State Park invites visitors to stroll its campground and admire campsites decorated with holiday lights. Campers compete with family-friendly seasonal displays, and park staff and volunteers tour the loops from 6 p.m. to choose three prize winners; day visitors are welcome to walk through and enjoy the show even if they are not camping. Rules for decorators: no amplified sound, no open-flame decor such as candles or tiki torches, everything within the campsite boundary and nothing nailed or screwed to shade structures or picnic tables. Park entry is $5 for adults and free for children 12 and under (free with a State Parks Pass); because the program starts after hours, check in at the self-pay station. Weather can cancel the program.
