About this adventure
The Ice Barn is a small-ice hockey training rink in Westfield that also runs a Learn to Skate USA program for beginners. Snowplow Sam 1–4 is for beginners up to 5 years old and Basic 1 for beginners 6–14; both teach marching, sitting and standing up, snowplow stops, gliding and the start of backward skating, then progress through Basic 2–6, Pre-Freeskate and Freeskate 1–2. Each class is 30 minutes of weekly instruction plus 15 minutes of coach-monitored practice. Skaters may use hockey or figure skates (rental hockey skates are available), helmets are required, and a yearly Learn to Skate USA membership is needed. After Basic 1 and 2, children can move into Learn to Play hockey. Missed classes cannot be made up.
