About this adventure
The Jacksonville Symphony's Children's Music Festival returns for the 2026/27 season with an afternoon of music and hands-on activities. It starts with an hour-long concert, Tchaikovsky Discovers America, presented by Classical Kids LIVE!: an interactive story with acting and live music by Symphony musicians about the composer's 1891 trip to New York for the opening of Carnegie Hall and to Niagara Falls, where a meeting with a young American girl, Jennie, sets him remembering his life in Russia and his fear of conducting. After the concert, the lobby fills with activities: children can try conducting an ensemble, make arts and crafts and visit an instrument zoo to touch and try instruments. The Symphony recommends the program for ages six and up. Buy tickets in advance through the Symphony box office.
