Low Sensory Morning opens the Nelson-Atkins an hour before the public arrives so that families and care partners of children with autism or sensory sensitivities can explore in a quiet, low-stimulation setting. Participants take part in hands-on art making and visit the galleries, with visual resources, hand fidgets and a low-sensory break room available throughout. Check in at the welcome table in Bloch Lobby and use the Bloch Lobby or Bloch Plaza entrances. The program is free but registration is required (up to 15 tickets per order), and the form lets families request accommodations such as ASL or Spanish interpretation, CART captioning, assistive listening or EnChroma glasses. The next session after this one is Jan. 16, 2027.
